A Few Thoughts....

When purchasing a toy for your bird, imagine what your bird will think of it.  It is easy to purchase a toy because you love it and to forget it is your bird that will be playing with it.

Whenever you purchase a rope toy make sure your birds toenails are trimmed.  If a bird loves a toy , it may play with it until the rope is badly frayed.  This is when a toy can be dangerous.  Remove the toy before it becomes a hazard.

We do not recommend hanging a toy from a long piece of leather.  Some birds are so rambunctious that they may wrap the leather around their necks and panic when the cannot get out.

Do not leave soiled toys in the cage.  Bacteria can take hold and cause a health hazard for your bird.

We recommend watching your bird play with its new toy for a while before leaving your bird alone with it.  That way you may see a potential danger.  It's fine for a bird to shred its wood toy, but not if the bird is actually chewing and swallowing the pieces.
